| Bushmanland Overnight Adventure | |
Day 1 The adventure starts early in the morning at the Mousebird Backpackers Lodge in Tsumeb from where we drive towards the Omatako Valley Restcamp where we get a local guide to show us the nearby village Omatako, where we visit the Traditional Authority’s office, meet the chief and try the self-brewed “tombo” in the Shabeen. We then put up our tents at the Campsite and will spend the evening around the campfire and watch (and join?) the traditional dancing of the San people. Meals: Lunch, Dinner |

Day
2 After breakfast we go on a bushwalk with our local guide and learn about the different plants and how to use them. Back in the village we will have the opportunity to learn how to start a fire with sticks from the Mangetti tree, how the San people make jewellery from Ostrich Eggshells or simply play with the children before we have a look at the Craft Shop to buy original Bushman Crafts. We then say good bye and get back on the road to have lunch at the world’s heaviest metallic meteorite before we return to Mousebird Backpackers Lodge in Tsumeb. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch |
![]() Please note This trip will NOT show you San people like they used to life 100 or more years ago, but will try to give you an insight into their struggle to survive in the 21st century and the problems these fascinating first inhabitants of Namibia are facing today. We also want you to be aware of the fact that the Omatako Valley Restcamp we will be visiting is part of the NACOBTA (NAmibian COmmunity BAsed TOurism) project. The service provided will therefore NOT reach standards visitors from overseas might be used to and some of the above mentioned activities may be subject to change due to availability of translators or change in local conditions! Meals as indicated. |
